Vitamin D Design & Sustainable Architecture - Purehouse

Vitamin D Design & Sustainable Architecture

February 16, 2017 NPR has a story A Bit More Vitamin D Might Help Prevent Colds And Flu.

Science shows that vitamin D helps not only to protect our bones, but also to boost our immune system. This NPR story refers to data coming from 25 studies with approximately 10,000 participants.

As activist architects, Purehouse looks at ways to get the sun to travel at least halfway through your house in winter time, providing a boost to your emotional state and immune system. That’s building science, building upon vitamin D science, building upon chronobiology science.  We create window schedules that mathematically show how much sun comes through a each particular Purehouse. This is a real life example of the sun’s heat and positive energy coming into a high performance house.

We look at how to let the sun in and let it do the work to heat your home, heat the water, make electricity and boost your immune system. Start moving towards the positive-  eat better food, take fewer pills, let the sun shine into your home. This is vitamin D design. This is how we think at Purehouse.
